Lower School
Grades K–5
The early elementary grades are a crucial and formative foundation for a lifetime of learning. At Silver Lake Preparatory School, we embrace young children's natural curiosity—their desire to observe, question, and explore the world around them. Our educators nurture this spirit with encouragement and support, thoughtfully guided by Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory of Development and the concept of the zone of proximal development.
Through meaningful, project-based learning experiences, students engage in work that not only builds academic skills but also carries practical, real-world value. While we place strong emphasis on core areas such as writing and mathematics, we also recognize the importance of nurturing a wide range of intelligences. Every child brings unique strengths and opportunities for growth, and it is our mission to help them discover and develop both.
At Silver Lake, we celebrate each student’s individuality and story. Our curriculum encourages self-expression through writing, speaking, music and art, and drama, tapping into the rich potential within every child. These skills form the building blocks of artistic expression, critical thinking, and academic excellence—essential qualities for future success.
